A portable outdoor chair
This chair was inspired by my childhood memories of sitting around a bonfire and roasting marshmallows.
This inspiration helped me develop the form. I used an interlocking mechanism to fabricate this collapsible chair. I envisioned it to be traditional in form and portable in use.
Furniture Design / 3D Fabrication
I started by interlocking the dowels and adjusting the seat height for an ergonomic form. The four dowels were screwed together using a circular metal hardware. This directed the form of the chair and allowed it to be stacked up straight or opened up to create the seat for the chair. The sleeves for the chair were created using jute crochet and can be easily removed and cleaned over time.
This chair is a great outdoor seating structure. It is designed to be a piece of art, redefining what seating looks
and feels like.
